All children want to get iPad for Christmas

According to a study by Nielsen, 31% U.S. children aged between 6 and 12 years want to buy iPad next six months. Secondly is the computer (29%) and the third place was another product of Apple – iPod Touch (29%).

The poll, which was held in October, includes 17 popular electronic devices, including televisions, gaming consoles, phones and players.

Only 11% of children say they want an electronic reader. Statistics that might not appeal to Amazon.

Children over 13 are more interested in buying a computer (20%) over the next six months. The second, third and fourth place respectively are televisions (19%) smarphones (19%) and iPad (18%). Surprisingly or not, electronic readers (15%) are more desirable than the older children at the expense of gaming consoles.

Although the price of the iPad, the device continues to have strong sales, which (apparently) will increase during the holiday season. Good news for parents is that the device is sold worldwide, not just in the U.S..

iPad 2 will be released in April next year

The next model of the iPad will hit the market in April next year, according to research firm Gleacher & Co. According to Brian Marshall, Apple will put a new model of tablet once a year.

April is an appropriate time for the iPad 2. Moreover, Apple will release a CDMA version of the iPhone in March, so the two new seasonal schedule will balance the company, says Marshall, quoted computerworld.com.

So far, Apple usually update smartphone iPhone in summer. The latter two models of the device came out in June and July.

A number of Asian sources already reported that Apple plans to release a new iPhone in March next year. The model will work in CDMA networks, as is the operator Verizon. Thus the exclusive partner of Apple – AT&T uses a common technology GSM.

The Internet is already an ongoing rumors and conjecture how it will look new iPad. Tablet is expected to become thinner and offer a higher resolution. According to Marshall, however, iPad 2 will be almost the same as the first model, with one exception – there will be two cameras to enable users to enjoy video calling application for FaceTime.

Do not expect more memory in iPad 2, warns Brian Marshall. According to him, Apple will maintain the current configurations with 16, 32 and 64 GB of memory and prices will range from 499 to 829 dollars.

By the end of September, Apple had sold 7.5 million units iPad. Marshall predicts that by year-end company in Cupertino will have placed 6,000,000 tablet so that the total number of units sold will reach 13.5 million

Intelligent iPhone can dial phone numbers without user intervention

The independent expert on information security Itesh Dhanjani says in his blog that the decision of Apple allowing the built in Safari browser to handle requests from third applications is a bad idea because it allows to conduct attacks as a result of which the smartphone can be done dialing without the user’s knowledge.

According to him, the site visited by the Safari browser of the iPhone, it is possible to embed malicious iFrame, which will install malicious code hidden in an application. Alternatively, malicious code can not be embedded in the iFrame, but a hyperlink.

However, a user who clicked on a dangerous link will see the start of recruitment and will be able to break it manually.

Dhanjani informed Apple about the problem and the company stated that all certified applications for the iPhone seek permission before launching a procedure of this kind. However, in this case, applications seeking authorization only after the user has entered and exclude or limit Safari, he retorts.

According to independent IT professionals, decision in this case can be built of special URL-schemes, which is disabled in your browser implementation or activation, which can be done only with the consent of the user.

iTunes news: 10.1 lands, Apple unveils Beatles offerings

Apple’s announcement this morning had nothing to do with cloud-based iTunes, as some of the rumors suggested, but the arrival of The Fab Four to the virtual shelves. The company not only held a special announcement about it, but also plastered its website and Apple Store homepage with the gents from Liverpool. If you’re crazy about ?The Beatles, then this is a special day indeed (and if you grab concert footage, singles, albums or box sets, you might be interested to know that you can grace the outside of your device with The Beatles, too, by picking a skin from here). Single tracks start at $1.29 a pop, and ?The Box Set is $149.00.

Of course, if you’re not a huge Beatles fan, then this news may come as a disappointment. Around the webs, the reaction has resembled this: “Seriously? That’s the reason for all the hype about a special announcement? Where is iOS 4.2??“

There were a few rumors about today being release day for this next version of iOS software, but that was quickly quelled. There are a few scattered ruminations that the real reason iOS 4.2 is being delayed is due to the Verizon iPhone. Somehow, the theory posits that the two will be announced together. (For the record, I don’t believe this one. If the masses have to wait until the ViPhone arrives to get their hands on 4.2 officially, there will be an uprising. Too many people want it, especially iPad owners, so it would be a PR nightmare to hold this up for months.)

But it’s not like there hasn’t been progress already made on the software front. Phase 2 of the new iOS roll-out has proceeded with the iTunes 10.1 launch, complete with iOS 4.2 and AirPlay support. This updated iTunes is the second component of the triumvirate of software updates —The first was Mac OS 10.6.5, which has already debuted, then this iTunes 10.1. The third will be iOS 4.2 itself.

We’re all set, Cupertino. All we need now is that last component. Bring it on.

.

UPDATE: By the way, if you’re going to grab The Beatles catalog on iTunes, be warned — the extras that come on there won’t work on your iOS device. It will only work on Macs and PCs.

RIM’s PlayBook vs. Apple iPad, browser test

Seems like every tablet maker out there is taking direct aim at the Apple iPad. The latest is RIM, maker of the BlackBerry OS and device line. Today, it released a head-to-head video comparing the web browsing of its PlayBook tablet against the Apple iPad.

I know quite a few people who are interested in the PlayBook, and if you are, don’t be shy. Let us know which way you’re leaning: The fast web-browsing experience and spec’ed out hardware of the BlackBerry tablet or the app-rich offerings of the Apple tablet? (And if there’s anyone out there considering the Samsung Galaxy Tab, please weigh in as well. We may be able to get one in the house, so if there are any specific features you’re interested in comparing to the Apple iPad, drop us a line in the comments, and we’ll do our best to cover it for you.)

Make your iPhone 3D with i3DG [video]

3D is a huge deal right now, movies, games and TV are all heading in that direction, so why should your iPhone or iPod Touch be left in the dark? A media artist, Jitsuro Mase has come up with a neat new concept to turn your iPhone, iPod Touch or even iPad in to a 3D device. The concept combines an accessory with three 45 degree angled mirros which attaches to your screen, with some cleverly designed visuals. Take a look at the video below:

I really can’t see this catching on personally, but, I have to admit it is pretty neat. The add-on snaps on easily, but is only useful in portrait mode, and if you have the correctly configured visuals/game on your device. What do you guys think? Cool, or super dumb? Let me know what you think below. I hoping that the next iPhone’s display is 3D compatible, but that could be some way off yet.

New iPhone 4 ad gives the battery the spotlight

First Apple wanted to show us the personality of the iPhone 4 with FaceTime. Then they gave us a glimpse of the sexy looks of the device with the Retina Display. Now they want to remind us of how big of a heart this guy has.

Apple’s new ad for the iPhone 4 makes a point of saying that their battery is the best. That’s right, the battery. The commercial shows how you can work longer (why would you want to do that?), play longer (that’s better), laugh longer, listen longer and much more.

Watching this I know that all of it is true. I have never had a device that had such amazing battery life as the iPhone 4. That’s not to say that I still couldn’t easily drain this puppy. It just puts up a good fight compared to other devices.

Apple also takes the chance to make sure we always know that the iPhone 4 is “the world’s thinnest smartphone”.

Apple I computer could sell for £150,000

Apple I auction Christies The 1976 Apple I computer, built by Steve Wozniak and dispatched by Steve Jobs, is expected to fetch ?150,000 at auction

The computer – a 1976 Apple I, one of just 200 or so machines hand-built by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak – will be up for auction in London on Nov 23.

According to its auction listing, the Apple I was shipped from Steve Jobs’ family garage, where the current Apple chief executive and his former colleague built and tested machines. It will be sold complete with its original packaging and manuals, along with a letter from Jobs himself.

The Apple I – numbered 82 in the batch – boasts eight kilobytes of memory and an eight-bit processor.

“The first Apple computer, and the first personal computer with a fully assembled motherboard, heralding the home computer revolution,” reads the lot description.

“Introduced in July 1976, the Apple I was sold without a casing, power supply, keyboard or monitor. However, because the motherboard was completely pre-assembled, it represented a major step forward in comparison with the competing self-assembly kits of the day.”

Christies believe the machine will sell for between £100,000 and £150,000. It cost $666.66 when it was bought in 1976.

The Apple I will be auctioned on Nov 23 alongside other significant computing memorabilia, including manuscripts, papers and documents written by Charles Babbage and Alan Turing, as well as parts from a World War II German Enigma cipher machine.

Apple iOS 4.2 software update will fix alarm bug

Woman sleeping. Walking to a good night's sleep Apple says the iPhone bug which has caused alarms to go off an hour later than intended, and made countless people late for work, will be resolved in the iOS 4.2 software update Photo: ALAMY

Apple has confirming that the forthcoming iOS 4.2 software update will fix a bug in the iPhone’s operating system that has wreaked havoc with its alarm clock function following the move to Daylight Saving Time across Europe.

iPhone users have complained that alarms have been going off an hour later than intended since the clocks went back at the weekend.

It seems that although the iPhone automatically adjusted its inbuilt clock to reflect the return to GMT, recurring alarms, used by many people throughout the week to get them up for work in the morning, are affected by a software bug that causes them to go off exactly an hour after the intended time.

"We're aware of an issue related to daylight-saving time and repeating alarms and will deliver a fix with the iOS 4.2 software update this month,” said Apple in a statement. “We suggest customers set non-repeating alarms for now, and reset after November 7 to resolve the issue."

US iPhone users are also expected to fall victim to the bug when their clocks change this weekend. Those in Australia and New Zealand were also affected by the same problem last month when their clocks changed.

Another temporary solution suggested by some iPhone users is to switch off automatic time zone adjustment on the iPhone, and set the date and time manually instead. Recurring alarms still need to be deleted then reset, but some users report that this workaround has resolved the problem.

The iOS 4.2 software update is widely expected to be released next week, although it is unlikely to be available before the clocks change in the United States.

Beatles music comes to Apple's iTunes store

It’s the first time that music fans have been able to buy digital versions of their favourite Beatles tracks.

Individual tracks are available from Apple’s iTunes store for 99p per song, and can be copied to an iPhone, iPod, iPad or other MP3 player, and music fans can also buy and download entire albums, complete with sleeve notes, album artwork and even videos featuring the Fab Four.

But most albums cost significantly more to download than they do to buy as physical CDs. The White Album, for instance, will set music fans back £17.99 on iTunes, but only £12.99 from Amazon and £14.29 from Play.com.

Purchasing the entire Beatles back catalogue will cost £125.

The agreement between Apple and The Beatles marks the end of a long courtship, during which Steve Jobs, Apple’s chief executive and a huge Beatles fan, tried to persuade the group to license its music to Apple’s download service.

The Beatles have been notable absentees from the digital music revolution, and it was initially thought that a trademark dispute between Apple Inc, the technology company, and Apple Corps, the Beatles' label, could be to blame, though that legal wrangle was settled in 2007.

Sir Paul McCartney said in 2008 that he “really hoped” a deal would happen, but hinted that negotiations between Apple Corps, Apple Inc and EMI were more complicated than previously thought.

Some had speculated that the remaining members of the group did not want to sell their songs as individual tracks, and instead would only license their music to download sites if they were sold as complete albums.

The news of the deal between Apple and The Beatles got a mixed reaction from music fans. Many people pointed out that they had already “ripped” their Beatles CDs to their computer to transfer on to their music player and mobile phone.

"It has taken so long to get The Beatles on iTunes, and for that reason, it feels like a bigger deal than perhaps it should be," said Stuart Dredge, an online music expert with Music Ally.

"The Fab Four's back catalogue will undoubtedly be popular in digital form, but once the initial sales spike passes, the music industry will be more interested in Apple's plans to evolve iTunes beyond a pure a-la-carte download store."

Hasbro launch 'iPhone binoculars'

Hasbro My3D Hasbro has launched a set of 3D binoculars to augment the existing camera on the iPhone and iPod touch

Toy company Hasbro has unveiled a set of iPhone binoculars that will allow users to play 3D games and experience virtual content on the move.

The My3D device resembles a chunky set of colourful binoculars, and has a compartment in to which an iPhone or iPod touch can be placed to transform the camera on the device in to a 3D viewfinder.

It will enable owners of the Apple devices to watch 3D movie trailers, play 3D games, and access other three-dimensional content through Apple’s App Store.

One app will give the user a diver’s-eye view of a coral reef, and Hasbro has signed a deal with DreamWorks animation studio for extra content.

"The idea of being able to be somewhere in Los Angeles, in this 360-degree environment, to be in the shark tank, to be able to swim with the fish and chase after the fish. These are really breakthrough immersive experiences," said Brian Goldner, president and chief executive of Hasbro.

The device is expected to cost around £30 when it goes on sale next spring. Some apps are expected to be free, while users will likely have to pay for other content.

First Apple computer goes up for auction

Apple I auction Christies The 1976 Apple I computer, built by Steve Wozniak and dispatched by Steve Jobs, is expected to fetch ?150,000 at auction

Apple 1, the original computer model hand made by Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs will go under the hammer at Christie's in London on November 23.

The lot comprises a fully assembled motherboard, a handful of extra components including a microprocessor and extra RAM, and a letter signed by Mr Jobs, CEO of Apple.

The circuit board, numbered 82, is one of only 200 built before the development of the Apple II, meaning it is unlikely to be one of the first 50 sold to The Byte Shop, an early computer store, according to The Mac Observer.

Christie's said the Apple 1 is presented in its original packaging – a cardboard box – complete with all documents, manuals and cassette interface.

Apple 1 was the first personal computer to feature a pre-assembled motherboard, representing a significant step forward from contemporary models which buyers had to solder together.

The computers, priced at $666.66, were sold for 15 months before being discontinued in October 1977, and it is estimated that as many as 50 still survive.

Two Passionate iPod Touch Games for You

texting-of-the-bread_nobg-300x231 Two Passionate iPod Touch Games for You

If you’re an iPod touch user, you might be interested in these two games.

Silent Hill - The Escape

Just the same as the predecessor, this game is offering a quiet, gloomy and full of suspense game. Imagine yourself being lost in a dark strange town, where your sight is limited with fog around you, and suddenly come across the strange-looking and bloody enemies. Sounds scary? Well, you should try this game to feel that horror experience. Plus, the music and the background sound are quite good, making your heart beat faster and you might jump off from your chair a couple of times. But the navigation control is bad. It’s so difficult to control the movement. Bad gun aim means you’re going to die, so…I won’t recommend it.

Texting of the Bread

It’s a spinoff from the House of the Dead, which is quite cute and entertaining. Can you imagine gingerbread cookies becoming zombie? They make such cute zombies. And instead of shooting them in order to kill them, you need to type the words required. So if you’re a bad typist, it’s likely you’re going to die soon. The graphics are good. The zombies come out with various looks and challenges. Sounds and music are also great. When playing this game you won’t feel terrified. Instead, you’ll smile a lot. This is one game that I like and recommend to play.

Simple but Useful Applications for Nokia

How to Choose BlackBerry Apps

Smartphone is nothing without its apps. The main function of a smartphone can be maximized and used effectively when you have installed all important apps into it. Since there are hundreds or even thousands of BlackBerry apps developed out there in the market, you should be careful in selecting what apps you really need. It’s foolish that installing any apps without taking some considerations into your BlackBerry performance.

There are several hints to take right before buying or installing new BlackBerry apps. First, you should ask, “What this application can do?” If this app gives you many of beneficial features, you can just download it. For example, this app makes your life better, helps you organize your time, your money, and gives you more happiness. Next, you have to learn how big the program size is. How much memory this app would require? If you have still enough capacity to save the app, it would be okay. But, the big matter is that when you installed many of apps, you wouldn’t probably realize that some apps are able to disturb your BlackBerry stability. Those two factors should be the most important things you keep in mind right before installing any BlackBerry apps, though, some people argue that taking graphics and user interface into your consideration is important as well, the reality told as that having apps that just functioned to stir up trouble into your BlackBerry was not a wise to choice.

Podcasting using a Nokia app

nokia-app-store Podcasting using a Nokia app

Podcast is now become famous, it is a series of file, often in video and audio files form. Usually it is downloaded through web syndication. But for Nokia users, Nokia already launches a new podcasting application. So you don’t need to go online again just to see whether w new episode is already released. This Nokia app is also built in on all recent Nokia phones, such as E series and N series.

If your Nokia phones not have this Nokia app yet, just download it for free on Nokia website. It is free to download. Usually podcast is used and downloaded to iPod, so this application will feel kind of difficult for those who are accustomed using iTunes.

To start using this Nokia app, you have to download and install it. Then, open the application and use search function to find your favorite podcast. Unfortunately, the search engine they used is pretty terrible. Maybe it is only search for old entry or only Nokia sponsor.

Another way to search the podcast is to use manual key in an OPML link. You have to create your own OPML link for the podcast that you want to listen or watch. Download the link and subscribe to the channel. This way, you just can now download the podcast you like.

It is maybe not the best application, but at least this application can be used as an alternative.

Tip: How to ignore or reject a call when your iPhone is locked

Have you ever wondered how to quickly reject a call when your iPhone is locked? This can be especially important when you are in an meeting and have forgotten to turn off your iPhone beforehand. Yes, this is a basic how to, but for those who do not already know, it can prove invaluable.

When you receive a call on your locked iPhone, “slide to unlock” will change to “slide to answer”, with no “reject” or “ignore” option in sight, but you can still do it:

To ignore/silence an incoming call, just press the sleep/wake button once (that’s the button which is at the very top of your iPhone)To reject/send an incoming call to voicemail, press the sleep/wake button twice.

How to setup LockInfo for iPhone [Jailbreak]

LockInfo is a great app available to jailbreakers that once again fills a functionality gap — this one making up for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad’s poor notification system. Until Apple implements a better solution, David Ashman has done an incredible job supplementing notifications with LockInfo.

Even though LockInfo is an extremely intuitive and powerful app, the setup can be a bit tedious. But when you get it right, you’ll be in notification heaven! Hit the jump for a quick guide and a video with some tips for optimally configuring LockInfo.

*As a side note, LockInfo is $4.99 right now, as of November 7, 2010 – that price will go to $7.99, so if you’ve been contemplating, you may want to jump on the current price. There is also a 14 day trial if you would like to test it out first.

First you’ll need to purchase LockInfo from Cydia. After you’ve done that, you will configure it through your main iPhone settings panel. You’ll see two sections you will use. The general LockInfo settings section and the Activator settings section.

Activator is a universal app that’ll appear on its own once you have an app that supports it. It allows you to customize gestures to activate different apps. For example, I have Activator set to launch Infoshade for LockInfo when I hold down on the status bar. If I slide up from the bottom of my screen, it’ll launch a QuickSend window for iRealSMS. So once you’ve got LockInfo configured, go ahead and set whatever gestures are comfortable for you.

LockInfo also has several plug-ins you can install via Cydia, which most if not all come at no additional cost. Everything from weather widgets, twitter, to do apps, RSS feeds, and more. I typically bypass a lot of plug-ins and here’s why: battery life. The general notification plug-ins is pretty universal. If your apps push themselves, why install a separate plug-in to fetch info and sacrifice precious battery?

As far as Twitter notifications go, I use Boxcar. I also use it for Facebook. This way, I have one app that pushes for two. I’ve set Boxcar to launch my chosen Twitter client and to launch the Facebook app. So if I click any of these notifications from the homescreen, Boxcar will quickly put me right into my chosen client. Whether you use Boxcar, Notifo, or any other push notification app, it should work the same. Notifications will also be instant instead of polling at set intervals, like most plug-ins will require. LockInfo’s default notifications feature will also aggregate IMs from Beejive and any other application that allows notifications, even games like Words With Friends. It’ll simply suppress the default pop-up notifications and present them under the LockInfo notifications tab instead.

Within LockInfo, you’ll be presented with 3 main views for information – lock screen, spring board, and Infoshade. While the first two are pretty easy to understand, Infoshade may not be. I find it best to compare it to an Android-style notification system. You can set a gesture in activator for Infoshade and it will simply drop down whenever you call it from the springboard gesture. So if you hear your e-mail chime in and you don’t want to exit out of what you’re doing, simply use your chosen gesture and Infoshade will drop down and present you with all your information. You can then quickly dismiss e-mails or notifications, or simply delete them. Mail also supports a quick view if you tap on an e-mail. If you’d like to respond, you can click the respond button and it’ll launch your mail app. Or you can trash it from the quick view screen.

However you decide to set up LockInfo is up to you, these are just some helpful hints I’ve learned using it. If you’ve got more, be sure to share them in the comments for in our Jailbreak Forums!  Also, if you’d like to see something in future updates or have a feature request (or need technical help), check out David Ashman’s webpage for LockInfo as well.

There will be no iPhone 4G next year

The next generation iPhone handsets will not support 4G networks. As you know, the new devices will appear in the middle of next year. According to the release of Techcrunch, Apple will continue to use 3G chips in the new iPhone.

Now, however, it became clear that Apple will take a safer route and will not rely on new technologies in the new mobile device. This means that the company will focus on developing faster and less energy-consuming phone.

One third of iPad users never download apps

According to research company Nielsen, covered 5000 iPad users, a third of the holders of the device never have downloaded even one application (app), whether paid or free.

Since the debut of the tablet at the beginning of April to the last financial quarter, Apple sold about 7.46 million units. According to Nielsen, 2.5 million of them are not used for applications.

However, that hardly bothers Apple too much – the average price of the towable applications iPad is 4.49 dollars, and if those 2.5 million users have downloaded at least one of them, the amount collected would be less than $10 million. Of these, however, Apple would receive around 3 million. However, this is a drop in the sea for the corporation, which reported revenue of 20.34 billion dollars last three months, which equates to over $ 4billion net profits.

After iPad’s debut in April this year, Apple managed to sell 10 million devices so far. This is really impressive but will Apple manage to do this again next year? Wall Street analysts are optimistic and expect 2011 to be even more successful for iPad.

For example, according to UBS Apple will sell about 28 million tablets all over the world next year. Either way analysts are on the same side that sells of iPad will have negative influence on cheap PCs and mainly on the notebook market.

News is not particularly surprising – as Apple has no problem with the design of the antenna, since all suffer similar symptoms smartphones. According to his words of antenna problems have complained only 0.55% of all users of the iPhone 4, which for three weeks of phone sales are now three million. The exported data showed that compared with 3GS, 4 fail with the iPhone less than 1 in 100 calls. And although not admitting to any problems, the company promised free covers for all users of the device. Already has bought one from Apple’s official stores will get their money back. Apple promised that the next software update will be given attention to the problems with proximity sensor, which is also the cause of numerous complaints from consumers.

iPad get extra battery and a kickstand

iPad’s battery is great but it’s not exactly worth an entire day even if it makes it anywhere near the claimed 10 hours of usage. The Kensington PowerBack is good for up to extra 5 hours along with adding a much-needed microUSB charging port to the device. Those two capabilities alone more than justifies the price of $129 but then there’s a clever 3-way kickstand that can prop up the iPad in both vertical and landscape mode and built-in speaker deflectors to counter the dock’s wrap-around style.

In their typical fashion yesterday, Apple hosted an event which presented the successive developments in its extensive product line – including things about the iPhone. Although most of the show was dedicated to the discovery of new and revised iPod branded products, there were several things that delighted fans of mobile phones. Of course, Steve Jobs was in shape and has taken center stage, began to talk about numbers – of course positive, as usual. But before he dwell in financial affairs, Jobs took time to show pictures concerning some just open the Apple stores around the world. Were mentioned shops in Paris, London and China, Jobs mentioned how much work was necessary to live these places. Store in China was among the places with the most interesting design, partly because of the use of 12-foot glass cylinder, it is kind of landmark.

iOS 4.1

After talking about the shops, Jobs continued with sales figures of their iOS-based devices – a field which constantly demonstrate its progress. Approximately 120 million devices were shipped iOS after the release of the iPhone, a further 230,000 new devices are activated iOS day. Worldwide downloaded more than 6.5 billion applications iOS, which is about 200 downloads per second! In terms of total number of applications App Store leads the online stores for other platforms – there are about 250,000 applications in time and approximately 25,000 of them are iPad.

Once finished with the figures, Jobs moved the focus of attention on the presentation of iOS 4.1 – great new update, wearing new features and improvements. First, the update includes bug corrections related to the proximity sensor, Bluetooth, and iPhone 3G. Strange, but not mentioned the problem with the coverage of the latest iPhone – be it hardware or software.

Second, owners will surely appreciate the improvement in taking pictures with the camera on the iPhone, partly due to the option High Dynamic Range (HDR). Just the mention of HD can please everyone, and Jobs said: “When a picture, the camera actually captures three different pictures, one of the hallowed places, shadows and shades. Then combine them to make a HDR image. “If you look at pictures taken with this new functionality can be clearly seen the significant difference in quality compared to standard photographs, as technology optimizes white balance and creates a more saturated colors. Eventually pictures will be even better than currently.

The next agenda was to review Game Center, which is a center for games, where users can challenge and play against each other online. Like XBOX Live, Game Center for iOS will allow you to send a challenge for a user to view results and see their own results – transforming it into a social environment for multiplayer. So if you have time to kill during their lunch break, you can invite a friend to the other end of the country and do battle with him online. Furthermore, by Capt. Mike Epic games came on stage to announce a new game called “Project Sword”, which demonstrates integration with Game Center. The game boasts stunning graphics with the hardware of the iPhone, and was described as “beautiful RPG adventure full of action.” The game itself is based on the Unreal Technology demonstrated how serious and powerful 3D titles can live with the devices iOS.

Generally this is all new, which is expected to accompany the release of iOS 4.1, and as always, consumers will not take them long to become accustomed to innovation. Jobs announced that the free software update will be available from next week. Moreover Jobs shift the topic of iOS 4.2, as enable us to peep into future updates. And to be exact, version 4.2 of Apple’s platform will focus mainly on the iPad, it will bring extras such as the possibility for wireless printing, and renewed service AirPlay, which basically allows you to streamed audio and video on your device . Fortunately, the update will be released in time for the holidays and Jobs said to expect debut in November – but not all devices will iOS wait.

iPad enter education

For years, U.S. universities give the newcomer students iPods and notebooks to welcome them. Now some universities offer tools aimed a little better at training. In U.S. School of Journalism Annenberg, students in the course of Professor Bill Selis “Special Reports: Education, Youth and Training” will receive an Apple iPads, voice recorders and cameras to capture stories when and where they occur. Rather than carry with them a large notebook depending on Wi-Fi, students can carry 0.7-pound iPad that can provide Internet access anywhere there’s coverage of their telephone operator.

iPad entered in the medical sector as well. Students from the University of California Irvine Medical got iPads to keep in them their digital notes, books and recorded lectures. Even more exciting are the new digital Stethoscope and ultrasound equipment that will connect to iPad, allowing students to compare their records with digital libraries, helping to more accurately diagnose.
Furthermore its mobility and easy synchronization with these initiatives give iPad beginning of green revolution in education. Instead loaded with large piles of notes and textbooks, students will replace them with iPad, much of which can be recycled.

iPhone 4 with external lens

If you are not satisfied with the quality of the photos with your iPhone 4 (known by now there would hardly cause for this), you can always try to improve the situation using an external lens. Saying that an external, mind ogledalnorefleksen normal lens camera. However, exactly how you can add such a plugin is not entirely clear, but the structure is used by Manfotto pocket tripod.

First case of overheating iPhone 4

In the Internet appeared for the first time information about the iPhone overheat 4. Boy Genius Report website published photos molten port and plug the USB charger. It is argued that the photographs are a source close to the operator AT & T, which sell the iPhone in the U.S. 4.

The problem is obviously a defect in the charging port in the smartphone or the charger plug. The power unit is no reason for overheating, since smartphone was connected to a PC rather than an electrical outlet.

Infographic: Samsung Galaxy Tab vs. Apple iPad

Although Tablet PCs have been around for ages, the Apple iPad takes credit for revolutionizing the tablet market. Nearly six months after its debut earlier this year, a noteworthy competitor is still missing. Fortunately, that’s all about to change: Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Tab runs on Android, has two cameras, support for video chat, and offers other features the iPad lacks. In addition, most reports indicate that a subsidized 3G iteration will launch on AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon this year giving it a boost over the AT&T-only iPad 3G. However, with Apple’s upcoming iOS 4.1 update, larger App Store, and established market share, Samsung faces stiff competition.

While we haven’t managed to get our hands on the Galaxy Tab yet, here is my in-depth rundown comparison of the specifications and features. Feel free to blog, tweet, or share this, but please credit our hard work. Also, for an enlarged view, just click on the infographic.

Samsung Epic 4G – Sprint (Review)

Sprint’s second 4G smart phone, the Samsung Epic 4G, is finally here. Although the device belongs to Samsung’s line of Galaxy S devices, the Epic 4G stands out since it sports a physical keyboard, 4G connectivity, and a front-facing camera. I have been using this device for the past few weeks and it offers plenty to distinguish itself from the well-recognized HTC EVO 4G, which I reviewed earlier this year. With a stunning Super AMOLED display, support for video calls, a built-in mobile hotspot, DLNA media sharing, and Android to top it off, the Epic 4G has a lot to offer.

Microsoft Launches The Arc Touch Mouse

Earlier this year, thanks to our friends at Microsoft, we had a chance to review the Arc Mouse and Arc Keyboard. While neither of those devices had any revolutionary features, the Arc lineup still offered a minimalistic design that many appreciated. On Wednesday, Microsoft’s hardware team announced the Arc Touch Mouse. As the title implies, the new gizmo sports some touch enabled features.

While the new mouse isn’t entirely touch based, a capacitive scroll strip will enable easier navigation. Running a finger across the strip slowly allows for controlled scrolling, but it supports flicks work for speedy scrolling as well. While many consider this a direct take on Apple’s Magic Trackpad mouse, it’s actually quite different. Microsoft’s Arc Touch still sports the shape and style of the older Arc Mouse. It still has two physical buttons for left and right click buttons too. On the other hand, Apple’s solution is a stationary navigation device that relies entirely on touch for everything from movement to clicks to scrolling.

While the Bluetooth-enabled Magic Trackpad offers some very intuitive multi-touch gestures, the Arc Touch is a more traditional take on a mouse with a hit of “touch.” The scroll strip even offers three virtual buttons for page up, page down and a customizable center button. There’s also haptic (viberating) feedback, which the Magic Trackpad lacks. The Arc Touch mouse sports Microsoft’s BlueTrack Technology and connects to computers with a USB nano transceiver. Microsoft claims that two AAA batteries offer nearly 6 months of battery life. A two-color battery indicator will even warn users when running low on power.

For those interested, the Arc Touch Mouse will retail for $69. Retailers such as BestBuy.com, Buy.com, and Amazon.com are already taking pre-orders. Unfortunately, this gizmo won’t ship until December. Microsoft claims that the mouse will be available in more online and retail stores starting in January 2011. We’ll be getting our hands on a review unit shortly, so stay tuned for a full review.

Three ETFs To Watch As The Housing Market Crumbles

ETFs Mentioned: CUT • JJC • XHB

The last several months have provided an abundance of conflicting economic indicators. A stellar earnings season and surge in M&A activity gave investors hope that corporate profits were on the rebound. But stubbornly high unemployment and sagging consumer confidence have remained as major roadblocks to prolonged growth. With U.S. markets treading water recently, many investors have been looking for a catalyst to give equities direction heading into the fall quarter. Be careful what you wish for; that catalyst may have finally appeared in the form of a disastrous housing report.

According to The National Association of Realtors, the seasonally adjusted annual rate of sales was 3.83 million units in July, a 27.2% drop from the downwardly revised 5.26 million-unit rate in June and a 25.5% drop from the 5.14 million-unit level in July 2009. This figure represents the lowest sales level since 1999 and the lowest rate for single-family homes in more than 15 years. More importantly, the level reported Tuesday was close to one million units less than analyst expectations. “From our vantage point, the first time home buyers credit pulled forward demand–by definition this is what stimulus measures achieve–however the issue this time is that there was so little demand to be pulled forward, the credit has left no demand for the summer,” Dan Greenhaus, chief economic strategist for Miller Tabak

Daily ETF Roundup: XLV Sinks, BLV Soars

ETFs Mentioned: BLV • XLV

U.S. equity markets continued their plunge on Tuesday after extremely weak housing data sent markets tumbling. The Dow finished down 1.2% while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq posted losses of 1.3% and 1.5% respectively. This pushed investors into safe havens such as gold and Treasury bills which once again saw gains; gold prices finished above the $1,230 mark while the Ten Year Bond yield plunged to below 2.5%. This gloomy day came after existing home sales slumped by 27.2% compared to last month and to the lowest level in 15 years. Economists were also off by nearly one million units in their forecast, underscoring just how quickly the bottom has fallen out of the housing market. “The numbers in the housing market just reinforced the notion that housing has double-dipped,” said Quincy Krosby, chief market strategist at Prudential Financial. “That in and of itself is worrisome because the retail investor is very much attuned to the local housing markets and extrapolating from that into the stock market.”

Sprint Drops Epic 4G Availability and Pricing

For those that just didn’t want to settle for the world’s first 4G smart phone, the HTC EVO, despite an impressive set of features, Sprint just dropped availability and pricing details for the Samsung Epic 4G. This device, based on Samsung’s Galaxy S series, will be available on Sprint.com and in official retail stores on August 31st. (Sprint stores open at 8 A.M.) Radioshack, Best Buy, and Walmart will also carry the device. As for pricing, the device goes for $250 after a sending in a $100 mail-in-rebate and signing a new two-year contract. While a bit pricey, the timing couldn’t be better for Sprint considering that Verizon just divulged pricing and availability for the Motorola Droid 2 just yesterday.

To make the purchase process easier for new and existing Sprint customers, a special web page (www.sprint.com/epic4g) will allow reserving the device beginning this Friday (August, 13th). That should make finding a device easier, especially after the chaos that ensued with limited quantities of HTC EVO 4G units, which are still sold out in most stores. Customers to reserve a unit will have to complete their purchase by 6 P.M. on September 1st to avoid loosing their spot in line. Customers can choose to pick up the device in a local Sprint retail store as well.

A Look at NOOKstudy

Barnes and Noble, the worlds largest book retailer, just got much bigger with its release of NOOKstudy, a free software application that allows students to access and manage all their digital media at once. The company’s slogan says it all

A Look at Trillian 5 for Windows

Cerulean Studios, the makers of the popular and widely used Trillian chat client, recently announced the 5th major release of Trillian for Windows. Since 2000, Trillian has let users access multiple instant messaging services from a single application. The latest iteration brings a fully native Windows 7 integration, a new user interface, support for new social networks, and many other improvements.

Although designed and optimized for Windows 7, Trillian 5 also runs on XP and Vista. The new interface is highly scalable to accommodate different screen sizes whether it’s a low resolution netbook or a high resolution monitor. And for those that enjoy tweaking the application, Trillian 5 is highly customizable with tons of custom settings, themes, and more. And if you don’t run Windows, Cerulean Studios is also working on a Mac version, which is still in beta. And for smartphone users, a mobile iteration of Trillian is available for iOS devices: iPhone and iPod Touch. The company has apps for Android and BlackBerry phones in the works as well.

Thoughts On Facebook For Android

Last week, Facebook released a long-awaited revamp of their Android App. Prior to the update, the app’s feature set was rather embarrassing. It failed to offer a decent interface and lacked many features that Facebook’s official app for iOS and webOS devices had. When Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, made the transition from an iPhone to an Android device, the blogosphere expected an immediate revamp. Fortunately, that’s exactly what happened.

According to Facebook’s change log, version 1.3 brings new features including “video playback, the ability to view and RSVP for events, respond to friend requests without leaving the app, and an updated homepage.” Much like the famous notification drawer on Android devices, the Facebook app adds another draggable “Notifications” bar at the bottom. Oddly, clicking on a notification redirect users to http://touch.facebook.com in Android’s native web browser. There’s also a photo reel at the bottom of the app’s home screen, which displays newly uploaded images. The updated app also makes it easier to update your status and search for friends.

While Android users initially welcomed these new features, forums were soon filled with complains. Due to a bug, the application began causing rapid battery drain. Many users resorted to uninstalling the app entirely. Three days later, Facebook officially recognized the issue and released an update (version 1.3.1) to solve the problem. And within a week, Facebook released yet another update, this time adding support for Android OS 1.5 devices and claiming to fix other bugs.
